One time when I was on my way home riding a jeepney at nakatingin sa kawalan. Someone caught my attention. One of the passangers was so passionate sharing all the things happened in her day with her friend. I saw in her eyes how intense her day was, I also noticed her beauty. Simple pero kitang maganda sya. Kwento sya ng kwento, really pouring out everything until.. "garbage words" came out. (meaning, nagmura siya.) Then I was like.. (oopppsss..). Akala ko isang beses lang sya magsasabi ng bad words, kaya ako, deadma. hahaha.. Naisip ko baka nabigla lang sya. Then suddenly it came to a point na those "garbage words" ang mga period as in tuldok ng bawat salita nya.
Sa totoo lang, masakit sa tenga. Sorry na (*peace*). Lalo na if your not used to say the same words. There are some people I personally knew na sinasabing "expression" lang daw yun meaning "Bukambibig" lang. Kaya napaisip ako, expression lang ba talaga?
Ayon sa bff ko na si Merriam (Merriam-Webstern Dictionary), ito ang meaing ng salitang iyon..
expression
noun ex·pres·sion \ ik-ˈspre-shən \
b (1) : something that manifests, embodies, or symbolizes something else, an act or product of pressing out.
And these defenitions struck me and I realized many things..
First, probably, it could be an overflow of whatever in stored in a person's mind and heart. Kaya kung laging hindi maganda ang naririnig ng isang tao. There's a possibility na hindi din maganda ang lalabas sa kanya.
In Luke 6:45 says;
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
As you can see from the dictionary defenition of word, it is "something that manifests" naturally because yun na yung naka-deposit sa mind and heart natin. (Not really good right?). Not good because these kind of words can defile both hearers and the one who said it. Every words that not building up others should not be a part of our lifestyle. Sana only words that would encourage, comfort and strengthen one another.

Secondly, our words "symbolizes somethings eles" that could be our identity. It could be somehow represents our family, our friends or the people we are with. Also could represents our faith or things we're believing for. I do believe that we are originally made to be an ambassador of God's words. Kaya sana ulit, sa mga bawat salita natin maipaalam natin kung sino tayo at ano purpose natin dito sa mundo.
In James 3:9-10 says;
With our tongue we give thanks to our Father in heaven. And with our tongue we speak bad words against men who are made like God. Giving thanks and speaking bad words come from the same mouth. My Christian brothers, this is not right!
Look, every words that inspired by the Holy Spirit, could always be spoken by wisdom, faith and love. Words that wouldn't bring life to others shouldn't come out from our mouth. Only builds up, only words that release people for their identity and destiny.

And lastly, expressions are words defined us "an act or product of pressing out"; meaning, if we are being pressed by the situation we might speak death or speak life over the situation. Balikan natin si Ate na nakasabay ko sa jeepney. The way she shared her stories was maybe because what happened was not really good that pressed or pushed her to explode bad words and she doesn't know anymore how to contained her emotion.
Although that is understandable, but instead of cursing, why not speak a word of blessing na lang?
Friends, any bad words or cursing words cannot change the situations we encountered; actually it can make it worst.
Remember, there's power in our words, (see James 3:5). So, regardless the pressure that brings by the situation; we can still speak life over it. We can pray instead. We can declare blessings over our life.
In Proverbs 18:21 says,
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Dear brothers and sisters, we're also the recepients of our words. And this is my hope to all of us. I hope and pray that we may all learn to choose the right way of expressing ourselves; sa gawa man or sa salita. May our bukambibig always full of love, faith and life. God promised wisdom to all of us. Let's take time to pause and think before we speak. And it only happen within our relationship with Jesus. Make time to feed our minds and hearts with His words. Allow God to fill us with His love and kindness. Jon Bloom of Desiring God said “The words you speak will all depend on what’s filling your heart.”. Check our heart now, what inside of it?
Prayer for today : “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” (Psalm 141:3).
