Have you ever experience being caught in the memories of the past that cause you feel happy and sometime sad.

That nostalgic kind of feeling that you cannot resist. The feeling that you suddenly remember everything happened in that specific time, in that specific place with those specific people. Even the scent of a perfume gives nostalgic feeling to you.

But what if those memories need not to be remembered anymore? Maybe because that memories are no longer a blessing? Instead of building you up it corrupting you? What if you need to free yourself from those memories for you to grow and move forward? Are you willing to purge and see what are the real precious things in life?

In a Book of Isaiah says;

“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.''

- Isaiah 43:18

Wow!

But yeah, one way or another we will encounter that ''forget'' word for us to move forward. It is true that holding the past would box us and worst paralyzed to do what we are called to do.

I realized that it is true that "if we're being caught by what happened on the past we will miss out what is in the future."

Friends, we are instructed through God's word not just for the sake of forgetting but for the sake of knowing new things. It's like unlearning and learning process. Like pouring out new wine to a new wineskin. Sewing patches to a new cloth.

Unlearning in a way that you will purge yourself from all unwanted things in your life. Unwanted feelings, unwanted memories, unwanted conditions and even unwanted someone.(ouch!) This process of forgetting may not be easy. But sometimes, necessary.

I personally having a hard time to forget ''all'' the things that the Lord told me to forget to. It took me months, years rather to get rid from the emotions, condition and people that I hold even from the past. Indeed by His grace alone why I am now moving to second part of purge to precious realization.

'' For I am about to do something new.

See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?''

-Isaiah 43:19

Learning on the otherhand is something we should look forward in every unlearning process of life. This is not easy thou, but it would change us. Most of the time learning is a bit tiring than unlearning, because it cause so much time to do it. Can even cause double portion of perservance, diligence and faith. It will bring the best in us. "Do not give your past the power to define your future" Learning is a prerequesite of knowing, knowing that new things God mentioned in the Scripture.

Folks, let me submit this to you. Freedom from the past is also a freedom for you to see the futrure. Remember, God Himself died for that freedom that He is asking you to embrace. Forgetting the past is difficult but really possible, this kind of response would help you and me to embrace the future. He said He already begun the new things. We need to step out in faith to get rid the memories of the past. You and I can make it only by the grace of God. Dear, God just wants us to enjoy the future. He just wants us to move forward and live the life He wants us to live.

Sometime memories could be something ''nakakapanghinayang'' but also sometime letting go of them are worth it.
